The LIFE Elia-RTE project (2011-2017) is financed by the European Commission, the

Walloon Region, electricity Transmission System Operators respectively in Belgium and France : Elia and RTE.

The aim of the project is to create green corridors under overhead electrical lines in wooded areas in Belgium and France.

7 innovative actions are carried out in order to combine electrical safety and biodiversity by adapting vegetation management. Biological and economical indicators were monitored during the whole the project.

Communication tools (leaflets, video, good practice handbook…) were set up to raise awareness on the importance of nature conservation.

Networking with EU Member States was led to spread experiences throughout Europe.
